The heritage of Concordia University Irvine can be traced to more
than 150-years of higher education provided by The Lutheran
Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). The idea to establish a Lutheran
institution of higher education in

was born in 1955.
As interest in
establishing a private four-year college increased among southern

constituents, church officials formed a committee to select a site
for the future campus. After reviewing more than 87 sites between
